"What's that Johnny Cash song? 'I've Been Everywhere'? Yeah, that sums it up," Lionel Murphy of Astral Daggers says about their 2004 world tour. "Seb (Laroux, Astral Daggers co-founder) and I travelled over 20,000 miles, slept in over 100 hotel rooms, or were they airports? I can't remember..."
But what about the coordinates of the tour cities instead the actual city names on the back of the tour shirt? A bit impersonal, no? "Au contraire, mon frère, as Seb would say," Lionel answers. "Yes, halfway through the tour it felt like everything was just numbers: ETAs, addresses, room numbers... but there came a beauty within all of those numbers - a new language artists would only speak on tour. So we put part of that language on our shirts. We called it 'Tourese'."
