In what was on track for 7 straight nights of epic metal music at legendary Japanese rock arena Budokan, the band endured the highest of highs and lowest of lows: the spontaneous combustion of original drummer Clive Pancetta and immediate replacement by front-row-watching superfan Hidetoshi Kagatora, and the midway-through-the-seventh-show onstage arrest of three band members for running a Yakuza-funded alpaca-smuggling ring out of their tour bus.
"I wanted no part of it," recalls guitarist F. U. Stanton, "I was deadset on llamas... thought they'd be a higher profit margin. I felt 'orrible 'bout 'Hiddy' (Kagatora) - he thought his rock career was done before it even started! Thankfully the boys were released the next day 'cause they'd agreed to play a charity show with the proceeds goin' to Pachinko addiction research. Hiddy finished the tour with us and he's been with us ever since."
